The sun, the moon, the skies

Through my bedroom window

Yes, I am sick to death with all the news.  However, like anyone else I know, I can not stop obsessing over each development of it. You are looking for a beacon of hope, a sign that this madness will disappear, then just when you get a spark of hope, something else happens.  Never left complete until a politician opens his mouth and the bumbling lack of assurance, not to mention comprehension,  pours out of it.

It seems they do exactly the opposite of what we are supposed to do. Just to convince us that all these restrictions are for our own good, but they do not need to bother. The sensible ones apologise and mostly resign. But the others…?

Well, fuck it all. My husband will hate me swearing but I am worn out with the misery and inequality all over the world while being very lucky here and still feeling lost. Actually I have problems too, stressful ones, but I am not going to moan because they pale into nothingness next to so many people’s misery and I am in a beautiful spot …

So here is a change – anyone who wants a low, medium or even high quality image for free – it is on the house, yes free. Just email me on the contact page. Wherever you are in the world, you can print it, share it, use it for your business, whatever you want. As long as you are not a conglomerate enterprise – yes, that is you Amazon, don’t bother to contact me (not that you would unless it was about putting a review 2 days before I received the product).  For the rest of us normal people I gift you my collection of favourite skies, which is constantly being added to.  More and more, and more of them, please, in this future world.  Don’t you want this? And what use are my photos,  if I do not share them now?

I hope you enjoy these few here – you can see and have more – link at the end.  Just a note – when you see those lovely artistic cloud-like lines going through the sky, they are contrails from planes, in other words, pollution.

I did not know this then, but now that there are no planes, the skies are clean and much less interesting so I asked why.  The planes might return with their contrails, and the world?  Will it return?  That is debatable, and certainly not knowable. I find it more than ironical that what I found beautiful to photograph was in fact environmental damage. And maybe, what I used to find pleasure in, I no longer will.

I can say this; taking sky photos over 9 years has changed me from a night owl to an early bird looking for the first rays of light entering my mountain life. At the moment it is very solitary, but when the sun rises, it is as if the world is re-born. Ojalá, Ojalá. A beautiful Spanish ” I hope” borrowed from the Moors hundred of years ago when they came and added so much to this country.

Hola Stephanie. Thank you for sharing those superb photos. I certainly intend to take up your kind offer to copy them. I’ve been reading your blogs for several months as they are truly inspirational and articulate so well the many reasons why people such as myself chose to move to Spain. Thanks again and please keep posting!

    Stunning fotos, Stephanie.

And I like a woman who curses. When it’s justifiable, of course. Gratuitous swearing is another thing.

I love the dawns up here in Galicia but they aren’t often as spectacular as yours down South. Your photos due them justice.

Wow! Wonderful photos and article! Love the one of the winding path. Looks like a Van Gogh painting.
Have you ever thought of putting a book together of your photos? They deserve to be published.

Bellísimos son el Maestrat y Penyagolosa, sus soles, lunas y vientos, y qué bien posa toda esa naturalesa ante tu fina sensibilidad de poeta para que tu ávida cámara de reportera nos regale tan hermosas imágenes.
    Gracias, Stephanie.

Beautiful skies of a very changed world. I like the swearing….it helps a bit with the frustration felt for our political leaders who don’t seem to care what they do to us and the planet. As long as they’re okay. xxx

Just changed a bit at the end as someone objected to the word stolen. Quite right too!
